Onboard

Onboard calibration means calibration models are stored directly on the instrument’s connected computer, rather than in the cloud. The calibration data is available locally, so users do not need internet connectivity to access their calibration models at the time of measurement.

Foundation Calibrations provide ready-to-use Food, Feed, and Grain-Based Ingredient calibrations designed to help users hit the ground running with confidence. Built from more than 100,000 samples spanning over 10 growing seasons, these calibrations offer a strong starting point for consistent, accurate NIR analysis across a wide range of applications.

For organizations with specific products, processes, or regional requirements, Foundation Calibrations can also be customized and continuously improved through a calibration maintenance agreement, ensuring long-term performance, accuracy, and adaptability as sample sets evolve.

The NIRS Consortium is an association of commercial laboratories, universities, government groups, plant research entities, and instrument companies. The NIRS Forage and Feed Testing Consortium (NIRSC) was incorporated in 1998, bylaws adopted, and a Board of Directors established and in 2002 the group established the non-profit organization.

Our consortium collaborates to unify knowledge, accuracy, and application of NIRS technology. The membership shares in the effort and costs to produce standardized calibrations for use. We also strive to help our members in the use of calibrations, instrumentation, educational efforts, and support with instrumentation. We continue to work to standardize NIRS forage and feed testing across our membership and to encompass new technology as it comes available.

Our mission is to promote and standardize the use of NIRS through the development of robust, accurate prediction calibrations.
